This series of portrait/landscape pieces is titled Mothers of Nature. They are created with Panpastels, Prismacolor pencils and gouache paint on 22 x 28 inch paper. This symbolizes the connection between women and Earth; highlighting the shared beauty, sacrifice, strength, and resilience between them.

 

Earth and Women are connected by the uniqueness of their beauty, every landscape and woman on Earth have their own unique features that define a different definition of beauty. For example, Deserts and Oceans are both contrasting landscapes, despite how different they look, they are both breathtaking views. Similarly, women cannot be compared, as our distinctive qualities echo the extraordinary landscapes of Nature.

Women and the Earth create and nurture life while often sacrificing themselves in the process, continually giving to sustain that life. We are frequently admired for our beauty yet taken advantage of; regardless of ethnicity, age, or culture, we are united in our sacrifices and resilience.
